From: DPI Open Enrollment Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2020 10:54 AM To: Demrow, Jennifer DPI Subject: Pupils Not Attending/Withdrawals Before 3rd Friday To – District Administrators and Open Enrollment Coordinators From – Jen Demrow, Open Enrollment Consultant Subject –Pupils Not Attending/Withdrawals Before 3rd Friday We are getting many questions related to open enrolled students who are not attending a nonresident district for various reasons and how to indicate their status in OPAL. For pupils who withdrew on or before the 3rd Friday Count date, you need to go into the Change Enrollment tab or the 3rd Friday in Sept tab and enter the pupil’s 3rd Friday status as “no”. Do not try and withdraw the pupil for 0 days or 1 day; you cannot withdraw a pupil who was never open enrolled in the current school year. You will get an error message if you try to do this. Once you mark the pupil as “not open enrolled”, the pupil’s name will not be added to your Actively Open Enrolled tab, but they will remain on your All Students tab. As a reminder, the All Students tab is a non-reporting tab which includes any students who could possibly be considered open enrolled for the 2020-21 school year. Students are not considered open enrolled for the school year and brought over to the reporting Actively Open Enrolled tab until they are marked as open enrolled through the 3rd Friday in Sept tab or through the Change Enrollment tab (for alternative application students). We will be sending out a detailed list serv notice about the 3rd Friday Count and open enrollment in mid-September.
