Licensing Issues

Preparation for Careers in Education

  • Approved Educator Preparation Programs (colleges and alternative programs) - A list of Wisconsin's approved educator preparation programs including public and private institutions of higher education and alternative offerings.
  • Future Educators Associations - Networking organization for educator clubs that expose students to careers in education.
  • Loan Forgiveness or Deferal Programs - Opportunities for those interested in educator licensure in areas identified as teacher shortage areas and/or teaching in low-income schools.
  • Teach Grant - a federal grant program for prospective educators completing programs in shortage subject fields who intend to teach in a high poverty school. Contact the financial aid office of the campus where you are (or will be) enrolled.
  • Urban Teacher World Program - Program intended to create a comprehensive system to recruit, develop, and support a pool of diverse educators with the focus on potential educators currently attending high-needs schools.
