Urban Teacher WorldThe Urban Teacher World Program exposes students, especially students of color, to careers in education through teacher-centered conferences, college visitations, education fairs, and encourages active participation in future educators clubs. The program is intended to create a comprehensive system to recruit, develop, and support a pool of diverse educators with the focus on potential educators who are currently attending high-needs schools. Over 2,000 students have participated in the program since its inception in 1996. The program offers students opportunities to understand the preparation needed to become a teacher, by exposing them to campus life and connecting them to pre-professional pathways into professional careers.
