Professional Standards Council
New Member Guidelines

As new members join the Professional Standards council (PSC), there are some guidelines to consider that would enhance the role of a new member to the council. Please consider the following guidelines:

Recommended Research/Reading

Some important information to read and understand would include:

• Wisconsin Administrative Code - PI 34
• Teacher Education, Professional Development and Licensing Website
• PDP Initial Educator Tool Kit
• Department of Public Instruction Website
• Research reports, professional articles and any written information related to teacher quality

Representative Role on Professional Standards Council

When the PSC was established, the membership of the council was structured to be a representative group from all areas that were connected to and affected by teacher preparation and licensing. As a representative on the council, listed below are some recommended guidelines to consider in your role:

• Become familiar with PI 34, in particular provisions of the Wisconsin Administrative Code that have a direct impact on the population you represent.
• Be aware of the new rules/guidelines that may be developed that will have a direct impact on the population your represent.
• Gather information/points of view from other professionals in your work environment or constituents you may represent that may widen your perspective as a council member.
