Professional Standards Council MembershipThe Professional Standards Council is comprised of nineteen members representing a broad spectrum of interests in the education community, both public and private. Members are nominated by the State Superintendent on the recommendation of education labor organizations, professional organizations and institutions of higher education. Council members must be confirmed by the Wisconsin Senate and are then considered agency officials of the Department of Public Instruction. Members include teachers, pupil services professionals, administrators, school board members, a parent, a student enrolled in a teacher preparation program, and faculty members of institutions of higher education. The student serves a two-year term. All other members serve for three years. Required membership of the council is defined by Wisconsin Statute 15.377(8).
