Professional Standards CouncilThe Professional Standards Council was created to assist the State Superintendent in improving teacher preparation, licensure and regulation. Creation of the council was originally recommended by a Special Committee on Teacher Preparation, Licensure and Regulation. Authority for the Council was provided in 1997 Wisconsin Act 298. Initial council members were appointed and confirmed in 1999. The Professional Standards Council contributed to the language of PI 34 and is currently active in recommending and developing strategies for information dissemination regarding PI 34 implementation.
