Physical Education Resources

The Department of Public Instruction, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance has developed a list of resources and activities a physical education teacher could incorporate into their educational program. Each submitted strategy was peer reviewed, and will remain on the site for at least three months.

The following are the components that are or will be on this site:

  1. All school PE events or activities
  2. Activities done outside of PE class for credit
  3. Innovative assessment techniques
  4. Innovative class management strategies
  5. Innovative instructional strategies
  6. Innovative uses of technology
  7. Innovative ways to incorporate programs into adapted PE
  8. PE lessons that can be incorporated into academic classroom settings
  9. Ideas for recess
  10. Connecting health and physical education
  11. Incorporating activity into classroom time
  12. Using fitness scores to determine PE content.

Samples already approved are available for viewing here. One sample of the components will be online for each of the following grade groupings: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

Please use our template to submit your strategy. We would like you to connect the strategy you submit to the NASPE standards.

Five people will review your manuscript for inclusion on this website: elementary school representatives are Reedsburg's Brenda Erdman and DePere's Sandy Hagenbach, middle school representative is Wausau's Darci Mick, high school representative is Wausau's Janna Hillman, and the higher education representative is Lori Peterson from UW-LaCrosse.

Your name and contact information is included if fellow teachers want to talk to you about your great work. Please send your submission to Jon W. Hisgen, DPI Consultant at jon.hisgen@dpi.wi.gov.
