Kalahari Convention Center

Registration Fees:
$125 through November 13
$165 beginning November 14

This year’s conference, planned by the Student Services/Prevention and Wellness Team, provides a significantly-different format and organization of content matter from past years. While there are still 90-minute sectionals on "best practice" models in a variety of presentation areas, they are focused on three specific tracks—AODA, tobacco, and violence prevention. A significant portion of the conference matter is organized as extended training workshops. For more information see the conference brochure.

The four trainings to be included in the conference are described here and are limited to pre-registrants. Since this space is expected to fill, you are encouraged to commit early to a training that may be of interest to you. The Using Circles Effectively and DELTA 9 trainings are both full and have wait lists established.

Keynote: Restorative Practices in Schools: A Whole School Approach

Speaker: Ted Wachtel

Ted Wachtel will show how the comprehensive implementation of restorative practices has a dramatic impact on violence and misbehavior in schools. In his approach, the concept of restorative justice, a response to wrongdoing, has been expanded to include a wide range of restorative practices, both proactive and reactive, applied to everyday life, using informal and proactive strategies. The positive outcomes are dramatic. Providing empirical results, case studies and video, the speaker will highlight the value of a restorative whole school approach to positive culture change.
