What's New in Afterschool?

21st Century Community Learning Centers 2005-06 Executive Summary

Each year, CLCs from across the country collect and report data on their afterschool programs, including information on student outcomes. Through grades, test scores, and teacher surveys on behavior, the CLCs can gain insight into their programs' impact on student success. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction collects this data statewide and has published an executive summary of the 2005-06 data. The results suggest that Wisconsin's 21st Century Community Learning Centers are helping to meet the New Wisconsin Promise to close the achievement gap between economically disadvantaged students, students of color and their peers.

Wisconsin Afterschool Network

Dozens of organizations from across the state have joined forces in support of afterschool programs through the Wisconsin Afterschool Network (WAN). Funded by the C.S. Mott Foundation, as well as generous contributions by partner organizations, the WAN is a public/private partnership whose vision is that all Wisconsin school age youth will have the opportunity to attend a high quality afterschool program. Please visit our WAN website to learn more!
