Title I and School Support

Title I Supplemental Grants

Title I: Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged Part A: Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies Subpart 1: Basic Program Requirements Federal Law: 20USC§1116

Overview

As required by the No Child Left Behind Act, the purpose of the Title I Supplemental Grants is to provide districts with additional funds and resources to help them develop and improve district efforts to support their eligible Title I schools. Implicit in these grants is the recognition that all Wisconsin districts have existing resources and programs that support the student achievement of its neediest school(s). These grants are intended to supplement existing district efforts and strengthen district support. The grant application is structured around two goals: 1) addressing the needs of the eligible Title I schools based on adequate yearly progress (AYP) indicators, and 2) providing district support for these schools based on the Department of Public Instruction's Characteristics of Successful Districts.
