Programs for Students who are Deaf-Blind


"Deaf-blindness means concomitant hearing and visual impairments, the combination of which causes such severe communication and other developmental and educational problems that they cannot be accommodated in special education programs solely for children with deafness or children with blindness." 34 CFR 300.7 (c)

Heidi Hollenberger is the Deafblind Coordinator through the Wisconsin Educational Services Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (WESP/DHH). Heidi provides technical assistance for students, schools, and parents as well as assessments, evaluations, and trainings. Heidi can be reached at 608-261-6326.

The department also works with  Lyn Ayer email: lynayer@powercom.net Project Director of the state's federally-funded project, Wisconsin Deafblind Education. Services are provided to children and parents of deaf-blind children from any area of Wisconsin. Lyn can be reached at 920-929-9260. This federal grant is administered by Silver Lake College.
