Subject:  Registration Is Now Open for the November 2010 Open Enrollment Workshops
 
 
Information about the November 2010 Open Enrollment workshops is now on the open enrollment web site at 
http://dpi.wi.gov/sms/psctoc.html .   From there you can view the schedule and agenda and register for a 
workshop.   To register, click on the blue button that says “Register Now.”     
 
The cost is $15 for the first participant from a school district and $10 for additional participants from the same 
school district.    There will be morning and afternoon sessions, you must register separately for each session (but 
you only pay one registration).  
 
There will be workshops at 11 sites across the state:    Pewaukee (November 3), Green Bay (November 5), Madison 
(November 8), Baraboo (November 10), Fennimore (November 11), Wausau/Rothschild (November 12), Chippewa 
Falls (November 15), Hayward (November 16), Janesville (November 17), Laona (November 17) and West Salem 
(November 30).  
 
There will be a separate workshop for virtual charter schools on November 10 in Madison.  Registration will not be 
done on-line, contact Mary Jo Cleaver directly to register.   If you are considering opening a virtual charter school 
for the 2011-12 school year, you are encouraged to attend the afternoon session of the virtual charter school 
workshop.  Contact Mary Jo if you have any questions about this.  
 
The morning session will cover administration of the application process and tracking of open enrolled students 
using “hands-on OPAL.”   The afternoon will cover laws and policies related to denying open enrollment for space, 
expulsion, special education availability/space, and undue financial burden; and will  discuss what is necessary to 
respond to an open enrollment appeal.  
 
We believe these workshops will be very helpful and look forward to seeing many of you.
