Sent: Tuesday, September 21, 2010 11:24 AM Categories: Important To – District Administrators and Open Enrollment Coordinators From – Mary Jo Cleaver and Merry Larsen, Open Enrollment Consultants Subject – Due Date for Entering OE/NOT OE in OPAL – September 27 The 3RD Friday list in OPAL will locked at the end of the day on September 27, 2010. Nonresident districts, please be sure to enter all your OE/NOT OE data before that time. Resident districts, please be sure to entry Agree or Disagree (and resolve all disagreements) before that time. Any entries not made by that time can only be made for each student individually. That means you must click on the student’s name, click on Change Enrollment, click on Edit, enter Y or N for 3rd Friday and FTE, Save. Wait for resident district to approve. Quite aside from the necessity of ensuring that resident districts will be able to make the deadline for their membership reporting, it will be quite cumbersome to report students as OE or NOT OE once the list is frozen. The good news is that 68% of nonresident district entries have been made so far. Once the nonresident district has made its entries, the resident district must go into OPAL and agree or disagree with the entry. Note: once a nonresident district indicates a student is open enrolled, the data base is immediately updated with or without the resident district’s concurrence. Nevertheless, it is necessary for resident districts to indicate agreement or disagreement with the nonresident district entries. Correct open enrollment payments depends on both districts entering and agreeing on correct information. To agree or disagree with the nonresident district entries, the resident district should go the 3rd Friday Transfers Out list. If the nonresident district’s entry is “n/a,” it means that the nonresident district has not yet made its entries. However, if the entry is “Open-Enrolled,” or “Not Open-Enrolled,” the resident district must enter agree or disagree. (Note: If possible, it is better for the resident district to contact the nonresident district directly to resolve the issue instead of entering disagreement. ) As always, if you have questions, please contact one of us.
