Benchmarks of excellence for Wisconsin teachers, administrators and pupil service staff were approved by the legislature in February, 2000. Similar standards have been developed at the national level. These standards describe what Wisconsin educators must know and be able to do and have significant implications for professional development content.In addition, The National Staff Development Council has define standards that describe effective methods of professional development.
