June 11, 2007 High Cost Special Education Aid Payment

SUBJECT:            2006-2007 High Cost Special Education State and Federal Categorical Aid Payment for June

Enclosed is your district’s/agency’s 2006-2007 High Cost Special Education aid eligibility worksheet based upon s. 115.882, Wis. Stats. that created a new categorical aid program for high cost special education students. Eligibility was calculated from the 2005-2006 PI 1570 Excel Claim submitted by the LEA.

The 2006-07 state appropriation of $3,500,000 has been supplemented with $1,921,694 of federal IDEA aid. Therefore, use Source 625 to record the state categorical aid portion and source 711 for the federal aid portion. This worksheet also identifies any necessary transit of aid payments, including the receiving entity name and dollar amount.

The actual final direct aid payments will be electronically transferred on Monday, June 18, 2007.
