Re:2005-2006 Special Education State Categorical Aid Payment for January

Enclosed is your district’s/agency’s 2005-2006 Special Education direct state categorical aid calculation worksheet, based on 2004-2005 PI-1505-SE Annual Report Special Education costs. This worksheet projects your January, February, March, and June aid payments. Use this worksheet to calculate “transit of aid” payments to other participating districts in cooperative arrangements.

Alert!!

  1. 1. It is absolutely imperative that you very carefully review this worksheet upon which your Special Education aid reimbursement is calculated. Since program data is now severely limited, DPI School Financial Services will no longer contact LEAs regarding possible missing claims.
  2. 2. Please contact Special Education Aids Section IMMEDIATELY at 608-266-1089 if your LEA has incurred either of the following on the enclosed aidsheet:
    1. Missing Claims: Special Education aidable program costs are missing from your aidsheet.
    2. Adjustments: Adjustments, especially negative ones, have been made on the enclosed aidsheet (see adjustment sheet for explanation).

The actual January direct aid payments will be electronically transferred on Tuesday, January 17, 2006.

Note:

  1. Aid Transmittal: Beginning with 2001-2002 aid, you will no longer receive the normal transmittal notice to record your revenues. Instead, please check the current year DPI Aids Register--to access, click on the "Aids Register" link on the left-hand scan bar from the School Financial Services Team Internet website at http://dpi.wi.gov/sfs/index.html.
  2. Aidsheets: Beginning with 2003-2004 aid, a copy of the aidsheet and adjustment sheets are located on the internet. To access, click on "Worksheets" on the left-hand scan bar from the School Financial Services Team Internet website at http://dpi.wi.gov/sfs/index.html and then click on "DPI Printed Worksheets" and then click on "Special Education Aid Eligibility Worksheets".

If you have any questions about these worksheets, please direct them to Beverly Kraus at (608) 266-1089.
