Integration Aid

The authorization for state aid to districts for pupil transfers resulting from a plan to reduce racial imbalance (inter- or intra-district) is found in Subchapter 6 of Chapter 121 of the statutes. The integration plan outlined in Subchapter 6 involves transfers of minority (or non minority) students from a school where at least 30 percent of pupils enrolled are minority (or non minority) to a school where less than 30 percent of pupils enrolled are minority (or non minority).

In the case of intra-district integration transfers (students transferring within a district), the number of pupils transferred is multiplied by .25. The resulting membership enhancement is multiplied by the district's Equalization Aid per member to arrive at Intra-District Integration Aid.

In the case of inter-district transfers (students transferring between districts), the district of residence counts the pupil as .75 for Equalization Aid purposes (first effective in the 2000-01 aid year), and the district of attendance is paid Inter-District Integration Aid amounting to approximately the cost of educating each transferred pupil.
