3. Nominate a "Young Entrepreneur"Two Young Entrepreneurs will be recognized February 1 and highlighted during National Entrepreneurship Week, February 23 - March 1. Nominations are invited. The Department of Public Instruction and the Department of Commerce are collaborating to offer recognition to noteworthy high school students who are selling products or services that serve consumers' needs. The top Young Entrepreneur will receive a plaque signed by Governor Doyle and will be invited to an event at the Executive Residence (governor's mansion). Every nominee will receive a certificate signed by Department of Commerce Secretary Fischer and State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster. The on-line nomination form must be completed by January 18. This year's two Young Entrepreneurs will be asked to appear in a live webcast during National Entrepreneurship Week to answer other young entrepreneurs' questions. Questions should be submitted to carol.dunn@wisconsin.gov no later than February 15, 2008. The Young Entrepreneur awards and National Entrepreneurship Week are part of an effort to enhance opportunities for students to learn entrepreneurial skills while still in school. Several other webcasts dealing with entrepreneurship will air that week, all aimed at teachers and students around Wisconsin. Also, schools and organizations are encouraged to hold other events to participate in National Entrepreneurship Week; ideas for events are provided at http://commerce.wi.gov/BD/BD-eweek.html.
