2. New professional development toolkit for initial educatorsThe DPI has released a professional development toolkit for initial educators. Professional development plans (PDPs) were made a central requirement of holding a teacher's license or serving as an educational administrator, with the enactment of the Wisconsin Quality Educator Initiative in 2000, which works for quality teachers in every classroom and strong leadership in every school. The "Professional Development Plan Initial Educator Toolkit" walks new educators through the processes of writing, reviewing, and documenting a professional development plan. Helpful examples and appendices are included to allow learning by example. An earlier toolkit addressed the PDP process for all educators, but this newer publication is the first to specifically address initial educators. The "PDP Initial Educator Toolkit" is available online at http://www.dpi.state.wi.us/tepdl/pdf/pdpinitialeducatortoolkit.pdf. To order a paper copy, call DPI Publication Sales at 1-800-243-8782.
