State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster congratulated Marshfield High School graduates, Noah W. Elmhorst and Jamie D. Robertson, for being named Wisconsin's 2007 Advanced Placement State Scholars.

"The accomplishment of these two individuals reflects well on their personal efforts, family and teacher support, and the entire school community," Burmaster said. "What a proud honor for Marshfield High School to have both of this year's State AP Scholars as graduates."

Elmhorst and Robertson are among 104 students nationwide to receive Advanced Placement State Scholar Awards. This is the 17th year that the College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) Program has presented AP State Scholar Awards to the top male and female student in each state and the District of Columbia based on AP exams. Award winners have grades of three or higher on the greatest number of AP exams and have the highest average grade (at least 3.5) on all AP exams for their state.

The AP program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while in high school and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the end-of-course AP exams. Scores of three, four, or five on AP exams generally are considered passing and worthy of credit at many universities.

During the 2006-07 school year, 25,020 Wisconsin students took AP exams, with 68.2 percent earning grades of three or higher.
