4. Project Citizen workshopTeachers of grades 4 through 12, as well as youth group leaders, are invited to a free Project Citizen workshop to be held Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the State Bar of Wisconsin in Madison. Project Citizen is a curricular program that motivates and trains young people in the methods and procedures used in our political process. As a class project or youth group activity, students work together to identify and study a problem or issue in their community. They research the problem, propose a solution, and develop an action plan for solving the problem. Students prepare a portfolio of their work and present it to a panel of community members. Students also have the opportunity to enter their portfolio in a state showcase held at the State Capitol in May. To register or learn more about the Nov. 14 workshop, contact the Wisconsin State Coordinator for Project Citizen, Jack Jarmes, (262) 679-8919, jackjarmes@yahoo.com.
