4. Emergency management grants

Three Wisconsin school districts are among 91 which will receive funding from the U.S. Department of Education to improve and strengthen emergency management plans. The three districts which won the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) discretionary grant program are Kenosha Unified School District #1, Milwaukee Public Schools, and West Allis-West Milwaukee School District. They will share approximately $800,000.

Districts interested in applying for next year's REMS grants should survey the materials at http://www.ed.gov/programs/dvpemergencyresponse/applicant.html, and monitor the site occasionally for updates on next year's grant cycle.
