4. Educator training: "Students with Mental Health Needs"

Educators are invited to attend a one-day professional development session taught by Department of Public Instruction specialists entitled "Students with Mental Health Needs: Challenges and Opportunities." The training is being offered at cities around Wisconsin over the coming academic year.

Today, school staff members are reporting more serious mental health problems, in more of their students, at younger ages, than ever before. These sessions will address the need for training and support to ensure that students with mental health challenges are identified and helped, without being stigmatized. The training will use DPI's Mental Health Toolkit & Curriculum, released earlier this year.
