Oshkosh aviation and aeronautics group hosts event for teen girlsNinth- to twelfth-grade girls from around the country will gather in Oshkosh this summer to explore careers in math, science, and technology. The event, called Women Soar, is presented by the Experimental Aircraft Association and is part of the EAA's AirVenture Oshkosh. Women Soar will launch on July 22 with a dinner featuring Anousheh Ansari, the first female civilian astronaut and sponsor of the Ansari X-Prize. The event continues the following day with fun team-building exercises including the EAA ropes course; world-class speakers; small-group break-out sessions with women who are national leaders in technology, aviation, and aeronautics; and educational materials. Teachers and parents are welcome to attend the two-day event. Registration is $10 for students (scholarships are available) and $50 for teachers and parents. The fee includes Sunday's dinner, and breakfast and lunch on Monday, along with an optional overnight camping experience in the EAA Air Museum coordinated and supervised by the local Girl Scouts organization. Free bus transportation for girls and chaperones are available from Milwaukee. More information: call Women Soar (800-236-1025) or download a brochure: http://www.airventure.org/2007/events/women_soar_brochure.pdf
