Educators may apply for financial literacy awards

Wisconsin officials are encouraging teachers to apply for the second annual Financial Literacy Innovation awards, which range from $500 to $5,000. The awards are offered to help implement new Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for Personal Financial Literacy.

The application deadline is June 8, 2007. Educators may apply online: http://www.dpi.state.wi.us/cal/index.html.

"The awards offer teachers the opportunity to use their own creativity to put into practice the Model Academic Standards," said State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster. "My hope is that all teachers will explore ways to integrate financial literacy into their curriculum. These awards can help these efforts."
