21st Century Partnerships Expand

The Somerset School District hosted a Community Partnering Workshop on April 5, as part of a daylong staff development activity, to provide more information on 21st Century Teaching and Learning Skills. The district invited more than 100 local and regional potential business partners to learn meaningful ways for businesses, individuals, service organizations, and schools to work together to prepare students for the 21st Century and the global world that exists today.

Nationally known speaker Barbara Barnes of EGF Educational Resources Inc., presented information on her work with community and school partnerships. Barnes began the day with teachers, discussing how to blend thematic and integrated instruction and assessment with business partnerships. Later, she presented information on effective business partnerships among businesses and local schools that have a positive impact on student achievement and the future work force.
