Corbett, Scott. The Great McGoniggle's Key Play. Every year the boys from Hamilton City Junior High don sports uniforms and collect money for the Jimmy Fund for sick children. Hayes, Geoffrey. The Mystery of the Pirate Ghost: an Otto and Uncle Tooth adventure. Strange things are happening in Boogle Bay. Someone has broken into Joe Puffin's place, turned everything upside down, and left a skull and crossbones painted on the wall. And Auntie Hick is certain that she has seen a ghost. Ten-year-old Ali Baba Bernstein, alias David Bernstein, is involved in a series of adventures that include hunting for a bear in Yellowstone National Park, solving a mystery involving a glass slipper, and searching New York City for his lost mother. Joosse, Barbara M. Wild Willie and King Kyle, Detectives: A Wild Willie Mystery. Best friends and neighbors Willie and Kyle are upset when Kyle has to move to Ohio but cheer up when they play detective agency. Their first case has Willie spying on the girl who moves into Kyle's old house. For grades 2-4. RC 54524.

Preller, James. The Case of the Double Trouble Detectives: Jigsaw Jones mystery; 26. Jigsaw Jones finds himself in competition with Reggie for the title of the best detective in town. Reggie relies on technology and charm to solve mysteries. Can Jigsaw prove that he is better? BRW 238.

Roy, Ron. The Orange Outlaw: A to Z Mysteries, "O". While visiting Dink's uncle in New York City, Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose help uncover who's responsible for stealing a very valuable painting from the apartment. For grades 2-4. BR 15060 / RC 59451.

Sharmat, Marjorie. Nate the Great and the Crunchy Christmas. Nate the Great drops everything when his neighbor Annie's large scary dog, Fang, needs a mystery solved. Fang's mother sends him a card every Christmas, but this year's hasn't arrived and Fang is unhappy. For grades 2-4. BR 13200.

Shearer, John. Billy Jo Jive and the Case of the Missing Pigeons. Billy Jo Jive and his sidekick Sunset, the coolest crime-fighting combo in town, search the streets for a pigeon thief whose picture they catch on film. St. George, Judith. The Halloween Pumpkin Smasher. Mary Grace and her imaginary friend Nellie scheme to find out who has been smashing all the jack-o'-lanterns the week before Halloween. For grades 2-4. RC 14686.

Brink, Carol Ryrie. The Pink Motel. When the Mellens open the Pink Motel in Florida, an exciting summer begins for Kirby and Bitsy. Their adventures include an alligator hunt, a special concert, a mystery, and even a real kidnapping. RCW 447.

Christian, Mary Blount. Sebastian (Super Sleuth) and the Bone to Pick Mystery. Sheepdog Sebastian (Super Sleuth) and his human sidekick, Detective John Quincy Jones, are called on the case when someone breaks into Bosworthington Museum and leaves mud in the prehistoric section. Before it's all over Sebastian makes a rare find at an archaeological dig, dines at a French restaurant, and appears live on the TV news. For grades 3-6. BR 07267.

Heide, Florence Parry. The Hidden Box Mystery: a Spotlight Club Mystery. The police ask members of the Spotlight Club to keep an eye out for a sneak thief operating in their neighborhood. For grades 3-5. BR 02538 / RC 09421.

Hildick, E. W. The Case of the Fantastic Footprints: a McGurk Mystery. The McGurk Organization of young private detectives takes on a case of proving a classmate's cat is not responsible for the prints in a neighbor's new driveway. This inspires McGurk to create a footprint-testing laboratory--just in time to interpret some pretty puzzling footprints that begin showing up around town. For grades 3-6. RC 41531.

Jackson, Jacqueline D. The Ghost Boat. On the night of a moon eclipse, some children spot a derelict boat they think belongs to the ghost of a drowned fisherman. RC 10402.

Johnson, Lois Walfrid. The Runaway Clown. While working for a circus touring Wisconsin in 1907, Kate O'Connell and her stepbrother Anders uncover a mystery. Volume 8 of "Adventures in the Northwoods," a Christian series about European immigrants in Northwest Wisconsin. RCW 1025.

Shannon, George. Stories to Solve: Folktales from Around the World. In each of these 14 brief folktales, there is a mystery (a riddle or problem) to solve. RC 25059.

Stewart, Linda. Sam, the Cat--Detective: a Sam the Cat Mystery. Justice is Sam's business, his only business. It's not a pretty job or an easy one, but it's a job Sam can do. Then "She" walks into his office, purrs out her unhappy story, and begs him to take her case. Sam doesn't play the sap for anyone, but she's pretty, scared, and needs his help. Or does she? Warner, Gertrude C. Mike's Mystery. The Alden children--Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny--can't wait for summer vacation so they can get back to Mystery Ranch, where Aunt Jane lives. Last summer uranium was discovered on the ranch, and stores, churches, and schools have come with the influx of miners. An old friend from back East, Mike Wood, has also moved nearby. Wright, Betty Ren. Christina's Ghost. Avi. Emily Upham's Revenge : or, How Deadwood Dick Saved the Banker's Niece. During the summer of 1875, a seven-year-old Boston girl is shipped off to live with her wealthy uncle, an unscrupulous banker. She befriends the town mischief-maker and becomes involved in not one, but two bank robberies. A comic spoof for grades 4-7. RC 12798.

Clymer, Eleanor. The Get-Away Car. Maggie's irrepressible grandmother takes off for greener pastures in a borrowed station wagon packed with Maggie and several other city kids from troubled families. The travelers transform the lives of almost everyone they meet on the road, while the police pursue them for something they don't even know they have. For grades 4-7. RC 17834.

Dixon, Franklin W. Crime in the Cards: Hardy Boys Mystery Stories; 165. Playing Creature Cards is the latest fad at Bayport High. When decks of these prized cards are stolen from the Hardy boys' friends as they prepare for a tournament, the brothers try to catch the thief. Their investigation uncovers a devious criminal scheme. D'Ignazio, Fred. Chip Mitchell: the Case of the Stolen Computer Brains. A seventh-grade computer whiz solves ten puzzling mysteries using his knowledge of computers and logic. For grades 4-7. BR 05386 / RC 19187.

Enright, Elizabeth. Spiderweb For Two: A Melendy Maze. When the older children in the Melendy family go away to school, Randy and Oliver are lonely at home. Then one day they discover a mysterious "clue" in the mailbox that leads them on a treasure hunt lasting the entire school year. For grades 4-7. BRW 312.

Ernst, Kathleen. Trouble at Fort La Pointe: a History Mystery. In 1732 twelve-year-old Suzette, an Ojibwe French girl living along Lake Superior, hopes her father wins the trapping contest so that he can quit being a voyageur--pelt collector for the French fur-trading companies--and stay home. When he is accused of stealing, Suzette investigates to find the real thief. For grades 4-7. RC 55774.

Gutman, Dan. Honus and Me: a Baseball Card Adventure. Shortly after Joe Stoshack discovers a valuable 1909 Honus Wagner baseball card, Honus mysteriously appears in his room. Neufeld, John. Gaps in Stone Walls. Twelve-year-old Merry Skiffe, who lives on Martha's Vineyard in the 1880s, runs away from home because she is suspected of having committed a murder. BRW 21296.

Thomas, Jane Resh. Courage at Indian Deep. Cass is alone with his dog in the middle of a blizzard when he sees a distress signal from a foundering ship in gale-swept Lake Superior. For grades 4-7. RC 22708.

Wright, Betty Ren. Ghost in the Family. While visiting his friend Jeannie's eccentric Aunt Rosebud in a boarding house that may be haunted, ten-year-old Chad comes across a mystery involving a missing diamond bracelet. Grades 4-7. RCW 191.

Yep, Laurence. The Case of the Firecrackers: a Chinatown Mystery. Lily accompanies her actress great-aunt Tiger Lil to the filming of a television show in Chinatown. When a prop gun fires real bullets, Lily and Tiger Lil must prove Lily's brother was not responsible. For grades 4-7. RC 50507.

Avi. Shadrach's Crossing: a novel. Single-handed, Shadrach Faherty decides to stand up to the treacherous smugglers who have blackmailed all the adults on the tiny island where his family lives. Mystery/adventure for grades 5-8. RC 22900.

Bellairs, John. The Treasure of Alpheus Winterborn: an Anthony Monday Book. After stumbling upon a well-hidden clue in the public library, Anthony Monday sets out on a wild and dangerous hunt for a treasure rumored to have been hidden long ago by the town's eecentric millionaire and practical joker. Hamilton, Virginia. The House of Dies Drear. Thomas Small, an African-American teenager, has moved with his family to Ohio where his father will teach history. They are living in the house where Dies Drear once operated an Underground Railroad station. The strange old mansion is replete with secret tunnels; nearby cave hideouts; and tales of ghosts, murder, and hidden treasures. Prequel to Mystery of Drear House. For grades 5-8 and older readers. Kjelgaard, Jim. Trading Jeff and His Dog. Jeff Tarrant, an itinerant peddler, finds a murder victim's dog and a home in the Appalachian mountains. Grades 5-8. RCW 275.

Raskin, Ellen. The Westing Game. The mysterious death of eccentric millionaire Samuel W. Westing brings together an unlikely assortment of heirs who must uncover the circumstances of his death before they may claim their inheritance. For grades 5-8. Newbery Medal. BR 06285 / RC 58350.

Reiss, Kathryn. The Riddle of the Prairie Bride: a History Mystery. In 1878, twelve-year-old Ida Kate and her widowed father welcome a mail-order bride and her baby to their Kansas homestead. But Ida Kate soon suspects that the bride is not the same woman with whom Papa had corresponded. For grades 5-8. RC 53429.

Terris, Susan. The Pencil Families. After she discovers a dead body and a shiny gold pencil in a lagoon near home, Emily's life becomes even more exciting and danger-filled than the fantasies she creates about her "pencil families." A humorous, suspense-filled mystery for grades 5-8. BR 03393.

Wright, Betty Ren. The Dollhouse Murders. A dollhouse filled with a ghostly light and dolls that move on their own leads Amy and her retarded sister to unravel a mystery surrounding grisly family murders that took place long ago. A spine-chilling mystery for grades 5-8 and older readers. RC 24318.
