Reference and Loan Library Reference StaffToll-Free Number: 1-888-542-5543 (Choose 5 for Reference services) Loretta Harmatuck, Government Services Librarian Loretta has worked for the Division for Libraries, Technology, and Community Learning since 1971. She began her career as librarian at the DPI Library. She has many years of experience doing database searches, which she specialized in as head of the Wisconsin Dissemination Project, providing electronic research for educators. In addition to education, her subject specialties are business, public administration, Wisconsin and federal government documents/services, grants, psychology, library science, medicine, and criminology. June Huizenga, Reference Librarian June's subject strengths are in the areas of law, music, performing arts and audiovisual materials. She has been transformed into a Norwegian and works on Norske requests. She also enjoys searching retrospective sources for items such as historical construction plans, old photographs, and biographical sketches. Jeanne Otteson, Reference Librarian Jeanne is the staff "cybrarian" who is responsible for intercepting and answering a wide array of e-reference questions that come via the Wisconsin.gov State Portal website. Every day that Jeanne opens the Portal E-Mail Box is a new adventure as she hunts for answers to questions about the turkey hunting season, health insurance for the unemployed, state statutes, or possibly, the guidelines for disposable bingo cards. Jeanne also works on all types of traditional reference requests, but particularly enjoys requests related to Wisconsin history, geography, people, and politics. Martha Berninger, Head of Reference and Interlibrary Loan Martha has been head of reference and interlibrary loan services since November, 2006. She has worked in public, academic, and special libraries. Her subject strengths include business management, finance, library science, humanities, and antiques. Martha enjoys leading the highly skilled, experienced Reference team. Willeen Tretheway, Technical Services and Audio Visual Librarian One of Willeen's first assignments at the Reference and Loan Library in 1969 (before WILS existed) was to locate books owned by libraries on the UW-Madison campus. Today, Willeen does original cataloging, selects audiovisual materials, and responds to questions about audiovisual items and cataloging. Willeen has in-depth knowledge of the library's AV collection and is able to help identify details content to answer reference questions. She is familiar with the educational market and can often locate hard-to-find materials.
