Estimating costs for the University of Wisconsin Digital Collections:

The costs listed below are for the most commonly handled materials. The costs generally include digitization processes, creating and hosting a process for submitting metadata, creating administrative metadata, hosting digitization objects and metadata, and returning a high-resolution copy of the digitized object. The costs do not include costs for staff or other costs for selection, documentation, submission of descriptive metadata, shipping, local meeting costs, and other costs associated with the project.

• Photograph (8x10 grayscale or b/w)	$1.75 per image
• Slide (35mm color or b/w)	$1.75 per image
• Oversize items (maps, prints)	$3.50 per image
• Text-based materials/bound (books)	$1.50 per page
• Text-based materials/disbound (books)	$.75 per page
• Oversized text-based materials (larger than 14x20)	$3.00 per page
• Archival materials (loose paper, letters)	$1.75 per page
• Audio (cassette tapes)	Variable, contact UWDCC
• Video (VHS/Beta tapes)	Variable, contact UWDCC

For audio, video, and other formats, it will likely be necessary for UW-Madison staff to provide special quotations.
