Child care is a complex and challenging career, but wonderful resources are available to you!

The Child Care Information Center has many resources to help you provide excellent child care and early education to Wisconsin children.

Since biting is such a common concern, here is a link to Lorna Aaronson's very helpful article on biting:

CCIC staff members have compiled brief descriptions of our favorite books on the following topics of interest to child care providers:

You will find descriptions of more books--and of videos, brochures, and article reprints--in the resources section of the CCIC Newsletters elsewhere on this site.

For a list of videos available for loan, please contact CCIC and ask for our catalog of Audiovisual Resources, last updated in June 2005. Items loaned by CCIC are also in WISCAT, an online catalog combining the library catalogs of over 1,400 libraries in Wisconsin.

Borrowing Recommended Resources

To borrow books and videos directly from CCIC, anyone in Wisconsin working in the field of early childhood care and education may contact us by:

If you borrow directly from CCIC, we will ship the book or video to you. Your only expense will be the cost of mailing the item back to us at the end of the loan period: two weeks for books and one week for videos. Or you may borrow the items through interlibrary loan at your local public or academic library--but check the charge policies of an academic library--and go to your local library to pick up and return the book or tape.

Purchasing Recommended Resources

Most of the recommended books may be purchased through your local bookstore or amazon.com. CCIC sells only the four books offered elsewhere on this website. Other excellent sources of books and tapes about child care and early education are:
