Planning a Connected Curriculum
No. 3092, 2003, 163 pp., $36
This new guide offers practical advice
and proven strategies to connect the curriculum in an era of
standards-based education. All practical suggestions in this
book have been used successfully in Wisconsin's classrooms.
Planning a Connected Curriculum was primarily
written with students in mind. This book outlines the steps that
educators can take to improve student learning through (1) connections
across school subjects, (2) connections between content and learner,
(3) connections between school, student and community, and (4)
connections through meaningful assessment.
Planning a Connected Curriculum succeeds,
but does not replace, DPI's Guide to Connected Curriculum and
Action Research (1997). Together, they provide a good roadmap
for professional development plans as required by teachers licensing
rules.
