CSLP Artwork for Partnering Agencies

CSLP art/graphics are copyrighted by Upstart for exclusive use by CSLP members and are used by permission. Copying or reproducing the CSLP art/graphics in any way by non-CSLP members is prohibited.

In 2008, the CSLP Board agreed to give permission to sponsoring agencies to use selected clip art on their web pages. In the past, libraries could use the art work on webpages and any print items they needed, but partnering agencies were not allowed to use any of the copyrighted art work on their websites. The four images at right can be used on the web pages of partnering agencies during 2009, but all libraries and partnering agencies should remove the artwork by the end of September.

Just as a reminder libraries can get permission from CSLP for their partnering agencies to use clip art elements in their promotional materials related to the summer reading program. For example if a partnering agency wanted to include the art work in an article about their involvement with the summer reading program in their company newsletter, the library can request permission through DLTCL and that request will be forwarded to the person who handles copyright permission.

Partnering agencies should only use the art work on items they print for libraries if the CSLP copyright statement is included and the item indicates the project is a collaboration with a local library or regional effort.

Partnering agencies may not use the clip art after the summer ends; however, public libraries may continue to use the clip art for library purposes for as long as they like. That right was negotiated with Highsmith several years ago.
