The stories of these fascinating characters entertain while illustrating our local maritime history. Beautifuly detailed puppets, superb manipulation, special effects, theatrical lighting, archival photograps, music, and songs create a rich vision of what life was like on the Great Lakes 125 years ago.

About the Company - For more than 50 years the Reeds have performed shows for children's theaters, libraries and schools, establishing a reputation for quality puppetry and family entertainment that spans generations. The typical Reed Marionettes performance includes hand, rod, mouth, shadow, marionette, and even robotic puppets. Add lots of music, audience participation, and children's humor and you have a show that is guaranteed to make even the squirmiest audience sit in spellbound delight. Designed specifically for libraries and their young readers, these productions highlight age-appropriate books and encourage the joy of reading. Phone: (651) 248-1102
Email: batlady_tc@yahoo.com

Description: Take an exciting tour around the world and discover the faces of the more than one thousand different kinds of bats that live - everywhere!

Do you like bananas? Bubblegum? If so, thank a bat! No bats, no bananas, no gum!

And did you know? Bats are the ONLY animals that help save the rainforests!

Besides that, a mother bat has only ONE baya (called a "pup") in an entire year!

There are many kinds of bats that are endangered or already extinct.

Entertaining kids and adults at nature centers, school classrooms, State Parks, birthday parties, and more, "Stephanie the Bat Lady" has been keeping her audiences fascinated, rolling with laughter, amazed, and delighted ever since she became a wildlife rehabilitator, rescuing her first bat in 1986. She includes myth and reality, peoples and cultures, biodiversity, and lots of audience interaction to teach and entertain - and even to help many overcome their fears and phobias about these fascinating little creatures.

And remember Magic Schoolbus with Ms. Frizzle? Stephanie wars a gown embellished with bats ever since she saw the one her hero Ms. Frizzle wore, partying with the grown-ups in one of those books.

And did you know? Stephanie's bats are soft as a mink, and they Purrr! No, you should never touch a wild bat, or any other animal with fur, because it might bite you. But she'll bring a bat pelt for you to pet, just to see for yourself.

Description: This group of adults and sometimes Hatrack (TM) Kids is dedicated to the fun of reading aloud and sharing that fun with the audience. Usually four people present a variety of stories mixing prose and poetry, and occasionally wearing imaginative hats to designate different characters. Listeners are drawn into the stories and the show encourages a person's imagination in making characters come alive. They are chosen with particular age groups in mind and can be geared to specific themes. In the past we have read for Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis all the way to Title I groups in basements. Nothing is impossible. Our goal is to demonstrate that reading is its own best reward. The program is tailor-made for its particular sponsor, taking into account the age level of the audience from preschool through the upper elementary grades, size of audience, the place of performance, and the purpose of the entertainment. Hatrack (TM) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization performing throughout the State of Wisconsin since 1967. Sally has also written a book, How to Hatrack: Techniques of a Successful Readers Theatre for Children, published in JUne 2006.

Zolkowski, Jack — "Soda Pups" Dog Show

Contact: Jack Zolkowski, 162 Andrew Ave, Neenah WI 54956
Phone: (920) 722-5704
Email: jzolkowski@new.rr.com

Description: The "Soda Pups" show has been entertaining and educating children of all ages for the past ten years. In addition to their careers in the entertainment industry, the dogs also give back to the community as pet therapy dogs, visiting hospitals and nursing homes in the area.

The show includes agility, obedience, and audience participation. The dogs, each cleverly named after a soft drink (Ginger Ale, Sierra Mist, Squirt, and Dr. Pepper) perform their own tricks. Each shows off their talents and abilities. Sierra Mist rides a remote-controlled Hummer, much to the enjoyment and riotous laughter of the audience. From there the show includes a variety of demonstrations of basic and fascinating obedience and agility skills. Nowhere else in the show is obedience of these dogs exemplified as in the "Famous Green Bay Packer Trick." Jack lines up the dogs, lays down a treat for each, encourages each one to come and get the treat with a variety of enticing verbal commands, but to no avail. No dog makes a move until the infamous words "okay Packers."

Jack, an entertainer himself, creates a show that is both fun and informative.

The structured show lasts approximately 45 minutes and the final minutes can be used to pet the dogs. We can adjust the structured part to include dog safety video or safety issues.

Performing Area: Minimum 12 x 30 feet with audience on three sides of performance area.
Requirements: Carpeted floor for dog agility performance. If in a school gymnasium, I furnish rubber carpets for agility. Adult supervision to intercede in case of inappropriate behavior by children.
Fee: $175 for 45 minute show, plus mileage; discounts available for multiple mid-morning, afternoon, or early evening bookings.
Travel Range: Negotiable, generally within 100 miles of Neenah, Wisconsin.
