This Performer Directory was created by the Division for Libraries, Technology and Community Learning here at the Department of Public Instruction as a service to public libraries and other organizations that want to hire quality performers for their children's programs. The listing is intended to help identify potential performers and to assist libraries and organizations in contacting these groups and individuals. Inclusion in this listing does not constitute an endorsement or promotion of any individual or group listed.. The Division strongly advises all libraries and organizations to carefully check references before hiring anyone. Not all performers work well under all circumstances and with every age group. By checking references, organizations will be more likely to find someone who will work best for their program.

The groups and individuals listed here are arranged alphabetically by the last name of the performer, business manager or contact person for each act, except in a few situations when a group act was involved and a specific individual was not listed. Throughout the listing, there are cross-references that lead from the act name, or the names of other persons in the act, to the main entry.

The index to the performers may be of assistance in identifying a particular type of performance or program. When a type of act is selected, the names of performers in that category appear. These names can be selected to link directly to the main entry for the act, where the contact information and additional information about the act can be found. The main entries include e-mail addresses and Web pages for the performers and groups, if they provided one. An effort is made to keep all links active.

People interested in being included in the Directory should contact Barb Huntington at 608-267-5077 or barbara.huntington@dpi.wi.gov for an entry form and additional information.

Although a few authors are included in this listing, for the most part they are also performers. Librarians interested in inviting Wisconsin authors and illustrators to make presentations or appearances at their library are advised first to consult the CCBC Directory of Wisconsin Children's Book Creators. This searchable online directory has entries for authors and illustrators of books for young people, presenting information about their published works and about the types of appearances they are willing to make. It also provides practical suggestions about all phases of arranging such programs. Visit the directory website at: http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/authors/directoryInfo.asp
