Teen Cake Box Project for Food Pantries

Project teens and cake boxesCreating a birthday celebration in a box for families who use food pantries.

Ask teens to bring:

  • Sealed cake mix
  • Box of candles
  • Napkins
  • Small books or toys
  • Baking pan
  • Can of frosting
  • Paper plates
  • Party hats
  • Balloons
  • Sprinkles

Provide teens with cake boxes or small boxes and decorating supplies:

  • Glitter pens
  • Glue
  • Collage materials
  • Markers & crayons
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Tissue paper
  • Stickers
  • Stamps

Turn on some music, have plenty of room to spread out, some snacks, and spend a fun afternoon with your teens decorating and filling cake boxes.

Alert the media for some publicity and deliver the boxes to the local food pantry.

This idea came from author Debra Frasier and was inspired by her book A Birthday Cake Is No Ordinary Cake. Check out her website www.debrafrasier.com for more inspiration and downloadables.
