WSLS Initial Load Checklist

Before District/School Begins Initial Load

  1. District users of the WSLS and Delegated Authority Application get a Wisconsin User ID using WAMS (http://on.wisconsin.gov).
  2. Superintendent appoints local WSLS/ISES Administrator using the Delegated Authority Web Application (http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/delauthapp.html)
  3. WSLS/ISES Administrator provides WSLS access to district staff as appropriate using the Delegated Authority Application. (http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/delauthapp.html).
  4. Authorized WSLS users set up district or school WSLS preferences (http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/wslsapp.html - Main Menu - District/School WSLS Preferences). [More]

District/School File Upload - Initial Load Checklist

  1. Create student file from your student information system. [See Interface Specifications.]
  2. Upload file in WSLS (Main Menu - File Upload). [More]
  3. Check file status (optional) (Main Menu - Submission Status - File Upload & Mass Entry).[More]
  4. Review file results and download result file(s) (Main Menu - Results - File Upload/Download & Mass Entry). [More]
  5. Load results file containing assigned WSNs into your SIS.
  6. Review/resolve students that had possible matches already in the WSLS by requesting an exit on identified match or assigning a new WSN if a match is not identified (Main Menu - Match Review - File Upload & Mass Entry). [More]
  7. Request a file containing WSNs from the Match Review screen of new WSNs and/or completed exit confirmations (Main Menu - File Download Request). [More]
  8. Check file status (optional) (Main Menu - Submission Status - File Upload & Mass Entry). [More]
  9. Review file results and download result file(s) (Main Menu - Results - File Upload/Download & Mass Entry). [More]
  10. Load results file containing assigned WSNs into your SIS.
  11. Steps 7 through 10 will be repeated until all students on the Match Review screen are resolved.

District/School Mass Student Entry - Initial Load Checklist

  1. Enter students into WSLS (Main Menu - Mass Student Entry). [More]
  2. Click on Student List and review/update/edit your student data. [More]
  3. Submit file containing students entered (from Mass Student Entry screen). [More]
  4. Check file status (optional) (Main Menu - Submission Status - File Upload & Mass Entry). [More]
  5. Review file results and download result file(s) (Main Menu - Results - File Upload/Download & Mass Entry). [More]
  6. Load results file containing assigned WSNs into your student system.
  7. Review/resolve students that had possible matches already in the WSLS by requesting an exit on identified match or assigning a new WSN if a match is not identified (Main Menu - Match Review - File Upload & Mass Entry). [More]
  8. Request a file containing WSNs from the Match Review screen of new WSNs and/or completed exit confirmations (Main Menu - File Download Request). [More]

  12. Steps 7 through 10 will be repeated until all students on the Match Review screen are resolved.

District/School Exit Confirmation Request Checklist

  1. The WSN contacts for your school and district will receive daily emails with a count of the number of outstanding exit requests received by your school/district.
  2. Review exit confirmation requests for your students from other schools (Main Menu - Exit Confirmation). [More]
  3. Research student to determine if he/she is still attending your school.
  4. If student is still attending your school, deny the exit request. [More]
  5. If student has exited your school, enter the student's exit date and confirm the exit request. [More]
  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 until all exit requests have been resolved. (Note: users are not required to complete the list before exiting the screen however users are encouraged to keep current with their exit confirmation requests.)

District/School Initial Load Complete Checklist

  1. All students in your School/District have been assigned WSNs (Main Menu - Results - File Upload/Download & Mass Entry). [More]
  2. All possible matches have been resolved by requesting a new WSN or requesting an exit confirmation. (Main Menu - Match Review - File Upload & Mass Entry). [More]
  3. All exit requests have been confirmed. If any exit requests are denied then you must go back to Match Review and review/resolve these students that had possible matches already in the WSLS by requesting an exit on another identified match or assigning a new WSN if a match is not identified (Main Menu - Match Review - File Upload & Mass Entry).   4. Only after ALL students have been assigned a WSN, change the Initial Load Complete indicator on the WSLS Preferences to Y and save. If all Schools in the District are complete set All Schools 0000 to Y and save. The Initial Load Complete for all Schools in the District will automatically be changed to Y (Main Menu - District/School WSLS Preferences). [More]
