Useful Software

The Statistical Information Center web site can be viewed by most popular web browsers, including Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Netscape's Navigator.

If you have a 'version 2.x' browser, you should upgrade to a 'version 4.x' (or 5.0) browser to get the most benefit from this site. If you have one of the 'version 3.x' browsers you should consider upgrading if you frequently use the World Wide Web. Newer web features on this site and others will require a 'version 4.0' or newer browser.

Popular browsers from Microsoft and Netscape can be downloaded through the links below. (Note: Browser software is usually much larger than 'plug-ins' such as the RealPlayer or Acrobat products. Plan for the download and installation process to take at least an hour or two, longer if you have a 14.4k modem, not so long if you have a fast connection).

There are also some 'pdf' format files on the site that can be viewed with the Acrobat Reader 'plug-in' from Adobe that updates your browser. Pdf files are popular on the World Wide Web, so getting this upgrade should enhance your overall online experience. Best of all, the software you need is free.

Many of the enrollment and SPR data files are provided in Excel, a popular spreadsheet program from Microsoft. School districts and other institutional users are encouraged to upgrade to the latest version of Excel. Microsoft provides a free Excel viewer program that allows users without the full Excel program to open and view Excel spreadsheet files.
