ISES Promotion Indicator

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL DISTRICT STAFF WORKING IN WSLS or ISES

Certain districts have reported problems with the ISES Promotion Indicator for students in grade 12 and high school completers. In response to these reports we have made the following changes in ISES:

1. Promotion Indicator will not be required for students with the exit types HSC (High School Completion) or PCC (Prior Completion Credential). This is a revision of error cross-reference number number 80 in the ISES Validation Messages spreadsheet.
2. Promotion Indicator will be set to N for students who were in grade 12 in the preceding count date record submitted by the same district, regardless of whether a current count date record exists. This is revision of info cross-refernce number 119.
3. If Promotion Indicator is or has been submitted for students with the exit types HSC (High School Completion) or PCC (Prior Completion Credential), the value will be reset to null. This is a new business rule, info cross-reference number 131.

Schools with students affected by the issues listed above are encouraged to re-validate. After re-validation, some errors, infos, and warnings will go away and remaining errors, infos, and warnings, if any, will be consistent with the revised calculations and validations.

Note that ISES only calculates Promotion if specific criteria are met. See the introductory paragraph and Promotion "Notes" in the ISES Calculated Fields document. Please review Info, Warning and Error Reports in ISES (click on Report Menu) and address any remaining Promotion Indicator messages if they exist after re-validation.
