PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL DISTRICT STAFF WORKING IN WSLS or ISES
The ISES Review and Revision Period begins today, November 4th.
Between today and November 24th at 8 AM, your district will have an opportunity to review and revise your ISES Year End, Third Friday of September Count Date, and October 1 Child Count data on-line. Below are some suggested steps:
- Determine if your district is locked as of today. Many districts which were locked prior to the Statewide Validation are now unlocked. If your district is Locked, then the date your district was locked will be listed on the Summary of Schools screen and the LOCK icon will not be displayed. Districts locked as of today can skip steps 2 and 3.
- Check Info and Error reports. Review Informational Messages first as such messages will be removed by subsequent validation. Correct Errors, see checklist. Begin with #4 of the Validation Checklist.
- Review Warning reports. Resolve or acknowledge new Warning messages. Several new district level warnings, cross reference numbers 192 to 198 , have been introduced. Refer to this document for suggestions for reviewing the student data associated with these warnings.
- Check Progress and Summary reports. Do not skip this step because ISES Errors and Warnings will not detect all data problems. If data are incomplete or if edits are required, then make changes in WSLS and/or ISES as necessary so that your district data is complete and accurate, see checklist. If your district is locked and you want to unlock your data to make changes, then submit a ticket to the Help Desk Expert Tool. In the "Subject" line include the words "Unlock District". To improve efficiency and response time, please do not use the 'Compare To' and 'View By All *d Variables' options during the Review and Revision period.
- Review English Proficiency data. For students in grades K3, K4, PK, KG, 01, 02, and 03 or with a Composite ELP Level of less than 5.0, the English Language Proficiency Code within the ISES must correspond to the student's Composite ELP Level. Student data in all Count Date records and Year End records were Completed School Term is 'Yes' has been modified to enforce this relationship.
- Determine whether an October 1 Supplement for Child Count is accurate for your district. The 'Child Count Enrollment for Students with Disabilities' Progress and Summary report displays student data as of October 30th. Changes made in the WSLS, ISES, or the October 1 Supplement after this date will not be visible on the report until the middle of the Review and Revision period when the reports are repopulated.
- If your district is waiting for resolution of a duplicate reported to the ISES Help Desk, please be patient. The help desk has received a large number of requests and we are responding as quickly as possible.
- The ISES Help Desk and Special Education Team staff are contacting districts for which questionable data have been found. If you receive such a request, please respond promptly.
- If your district is unlocked after the completion of Steps 2 to 8, then lock and submit your district data to DPI, see checklist.
- On November 24th at 8 AM, the current ISES YE/CD and October 1 collections will be closed, and your district's data will be considered final. Final ISES data will also be used for AYP purposes (attendance and graduation rates), for 2007-08 School Performance Report (attendance, retention, dropout, graduation rates), 2008-09 3rd Friday September enrollment reporting, 2008-09 October 1 Child Count and other public reporting and monitoring purposes. More detailed information about the uses of each ISES data element is available on the Web pages describing each data element.
As always, we appreciate your continued efforts. Please contact the WSLS/ISES helpdesk if you have questions or concerns, via phone, 800-507-5744, or via the online Help Desk Expert tool.
