WSLS/ISES Update

ISES FALL 2006 COLLECTION IS OPEN

The ISES Web Application is currently open for submission of 2005-06 year end records and 2006-07 count date records. We ask that you carefully review the Primary and Secondary Contacts listed in both the ISES and WSLS. These individuals receive automated notifications from the WSLS and are presented to other school districts as the main point of contact for your district for WSLS and ISES.

ISES FALL TRAINING MATERIALS

We thank the many district, school and CESA staff which attended the Fall 2006 ISES Training. The training handout materials are available for download, http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/iseshand07c.html. In early September, a recording of the session will be available on-line, http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/isessupprt.html.

WSLS STUDENT MATCH REVIEW PROCESS

In an effort to reduce the number of students with multiple WSNs, the WSLS process which identifies possible existing matches for newly submitted students has been modified. You may notice an increase in the number of students who require Match Review.

WSLS MASS STUDENT EXIT FUNCTION - USER MANUAL AVAILABLE

A new WSLS function, Mass Student Exit, was released in August. The WSLS User Manual Chapter 15 - Mass Student Exit is now available, http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/wsnmanual.html.

REMINDER - STUDENTS WITH MULTIPLE WISCONSIN STUDENT NUMBERS

We are beginning to contact districts in which we believe unreported duplicates exist. Correction of such duplicates will take cooperation between all districts involved. Removing duplicates has many positive benefits such as improving dropout rates and reducing data entry burden.

As duplicates are discovered, http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/wslsdupl.html describes the steps to be taken by a district to identify and submit such students to the DPI for correction.
