WSLS / ISES PHONE CONFERENCES

DPI will conduct Phone Conferences to discuss WSLS and ISES topics. These conferences, held weekly in the fall, will allow district, school and vendor staff to ask questions of DPI WSLS/ISES Help Desk staff and other districts. ON-LINE REGISTRATION ISES FALL TRAINING

Only one ISES Training Session remains. Register now, www2.dpi.state.wi.us/workshops/workshop_locations.asp?event=is9, if you plan to attend the 9/8/2009 session in Madison.

This session will be recorded and made available in late September from the ISES Training and Support web page, dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/isessupprt.html.

BIRTH LOCATION CLARIFICATION REGARDING IMMIGRANT UNDER TITLE III

The US Department of Education has provided additional guidance regarding the definition of immigrant under Title III, specifically what is included in 'born in the US'.

Under Title III, only the 50 US states, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico are included as 'born in the US'. Not covered and therefore included in any immigrant counts are children born in any of the outlying US territories, children born outside the US to military personnel, and children born in another country and adopted by US citizens. Please note that this is a change from the definition used in previous ISES collections.
