SUBJECT: ISES Update - Timeline and Data Collection Changes

ISES - TIMELINE

To meet federal and state reporting requirements in a timely manner, DPI and Districts need to work together to achieve an October close of the Initial Submission Period for both the ISES Discipline and ISES CD/YE data collections. FINAL ISES DISCIPLINE WILL BE DUE IN OCTOBER AND FINAL ISES COUNT DATE / YEAR END WILL BE DUE IN NOVEMBER. Because of these earlier due dates, we are asking districts to begin planning now for resource needs next fall. The ISES Year End and Count Date collection will remain a single on-line application for the summer / fall 2008 collection and will open mid-summer for collection of 2007-08 Year End records. The ISES Discipline collection will open shortly after the ISES Year End and Count Date application. The ISES October 1 Supplement for Students with Disabilities will be required again for 2008-09. This collection will open late in September and remain open through mid-October.

ISES - INTERFACE SPECIFICATIONS

The ISES Interface Specifications, http://www.dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/isesspec.html, for 2008-09 Third Friday of September Count Date, 2007-08 Year End, and 2007-08 Discipline collections have been published. New data elements and new code sets, http://www.dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/isesprepar.html#step_f, have been introduced. The specifications for 2008-2009 October 1 Supplement for Students with Disabilities has not yet been published.

ISES – VENDOR TRAINING - MARCH 25

A training session will be held for vendor and district technical staff who develop school information software to work with the ISES. This session will cover changes including new data elements, business rules and new file layouts for the Individual Student Enrollment System collections for summer/fall 2008. The session will be held in Room 041, of GEF 3 in Madison on Tuesday, March 25, from 9:00 - 3:30 p.m. The morning session will be presented by Melissa Aro, while the afternoon will be reserved for vendors and school districts to meet one-to-one with DMR staff.
