ISES Winter Timeline

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL DISTRICT STAFF WORKING IN WSLS or ISES

Happy New Year. Hope everyone got some time off and had a good time.

The purpose of this email is to give you an update on the ISES timeline and status. There are three key steps remaining prior to the end of this year's ISES collection:

Completion of the ISES Initial Submission Period
Statewide Validation
Review and Revision Period for Districts

The ISES Initial Submission Period will not end before the last week of January. We need all districts to be locked prior to the end of the Initial Submission Period. A mass email will be sent at least two weeks before the end of Initial Submission Period.

Immediately following the Initial Submission Period, ISES will close for approximately one week for Statewide Validation purposes. The two week ISES Review and Revision Period for Districts begins immediately following Statewide Validation.

No specific date has been set for the close of the Initial Submission Period, but ISES data will be used for AYP purposes this year and need to be finalized no later than March. Final ISES data will also used for 2004-05 School Performance Report and other public reporting purposes. Anticipated uses of ISES data vary by data element and are listed on the Web pages describing each data element. http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/eseamap.html#data. Use of data is rapidly expanding, and we would like to help you have data that are as valid, reliable, and useful as possible.

The final close date for the ISES Initial Submission Period has not been set for the following reasons:

We are awaiting the completion of some Progress and Summary reports that will aid in the ISES Review and Revision period.
Some districts have many errors and warnings to address prior to the end of the Initial Submission period. We need all districts to be locked prior to the end of the Initial Submission period. Key bugs that were preventing districts from locking have been addressed.

If you have questions about how to determine the lock status of your district, you may wish to go to the "Summary of Schools" screen which is accessible from the ISES Main Menu. A short tutorial specifically on Summary of Schools is available at http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/swf/isestutor6.html. If your district is not locked, and you have not worked in ISES for awhile, then see http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/isessupprt.html for ISES Manuals, Web-tutorials, and other support options. We appreciate your continuing efforts and know this work is a challenge. We will support your continued work towards locking your data in any way we can. Congratulations to the districts that have already locked their ISES data. A mass email will be sent when the ISES Review and Revision Period begins (sometime during February).
