Health Science Education Standards
- The Wisconsin Health Science Occupations Skill Standards outlines what curriculum and experiences would be included in a Health Science Occupations program to produce a student proficient for an entry level training program or career. These standards form the basis of the Wisconsin Health Science Occupations Skill Standards Certificate.
- National Consortium of Health Science Education (NCHSE) Standards are divided into several sub-sections. The National Healthcare Foundation Standards and Accountability Criteria answer the question, "What does a worker need to know and be able to do to contribute to the delivery of safe and effective health care?" They represent core expectations most workers need in order to succeed in a health care career; a foundation for continuous formal preparation on the job.
There are five Pathway Standards, divided by career clusters.
For more information on health science standards, visit the National Consortium for Health Science Education website.
- Wisconsin Educator Standards - Teachers are the guidelines for success of all teachers in all disciplines in the State of Wisconsin.
- Wisconsin Standards for a Quality Program in Health Sciences Occupation Education describes the qualifications of appropriate and active education, professionals, program planning, curriculum alignment, co-curricular activities and collaborative relationships. The document provides a tool for self-evaluation, documentation, and goal-setting.
- The Wisconsin Health Science Occupations Education Scope and Sequence brochure, developed in 2005 by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, provides an overview of career clusters, Health Science Occupations Education program options, standards for a quality program, and information on the HOSA student organization.
