School Psychologist - Senior

This position is located at the Wisconsin Educational Services Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; 309 W. Walworth Avenue, Delavan, WI.

Starting salary will be $52,621 per year. This position is in pay schedule 12, range 09. A twelve month probationary period is required.

Job Duties

As a critical team member, provide a range of services/duties selected and adapted to the unique educational, psychological, emotional, mental health and communication needs of deaf children under the supervision of the principal. These duties include psychological, educational and vocational assessment and diagnosis, counseling, pupil services and team leadership, diagnostic team leadership, and coordination of intake procedures and processes. Assist and advise in Outreach evaluations and consultations with community resource contacts and staff/parents.

The selection process for this position will include a criminal background check.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Licensure or eligibility for a license as a School Psychologist (61 or 62) by the Department of Public Instruction is required upon appointment. If candidates do not currently hold a valid license in Wisconsin they must verify completion of an approved program of study and apply for a Wisconsin license. An American Sign Language Proficiency Interview rating of 2+ upon hire and 3 by the end of probation is also required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of implications of deafness on learning; bilingual/bicultural philosophy; confidentiality laws; psychological tests/interpretations and the validity of use for hearing impaired persons; child development; counseling techniques; methods of maintaining effective working relationships with staff, parents, and LEA officials and educators; receptive and expressive American Sign Language techniques; and report writing methods.
