The Department of Public Instruction, Student Services/Prevention and Wellness Team, is currently seeking an Education Consultant. This position is located at 125 South Webster Street, Madison.

Starting salary will be between $54,008 and $74,262 per year. This position is in pay schedule 13, range 04. A six month probationary period is required.

Job Duties

This position is an integral component of the Student Services/Prevention and Wellness Team. It has the responsibility of leading the discipline of school counseling and guidance activities within the team and being the department’s liaison to other units within the department relative to career and technical education. Major responsibilities associated with this position are: provision of expert leadership, consultation, and technical assistance activities to local education agencies (LEAs), state and local agencies, parents, and interest groups regarding comprehensive school counseling programs, collaborative pupil services, and after-school academic and youth development programs. Provision of leadership and consultative assistance to colleges and universities, professional organizations, and other interest groups regarding pre-service preparation and continuing professional development for school counseling personnel. Review of after-school programs. Assume responsibility for special assignments in concert with the mission and goals of the agency, division, and team.

Part of the selection process will include a criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and policies pertaining to school counseling services, pupil services, and after-school programs; practices and procedures in researching and analyzing issues, including data analysis; organizations and interest groups relating to school counseling services; resources within and outside of the division and department including state and federal legislative systems; developing and presenting staff development activities; interpretation and usage of statutes and regulations; PreK-12 school counseling program development, implementation, and evaluation; after-school program development, implementation, and evaluation; public school system organization policies and practice. Written and oral communication skills.
