Family and Consumer Sciences Grant Opportunities

ENERGY STAR® Appliance Upgrade Program

Family and Consumer Education Teachers can apply to trade in your old refrigerator for a new ENERGY STAR® refrigerator for your classroom! It can often make dollars and sense to replace an older appliance before the end of its useful life. Prior to 1990 many name brand refrigerators used vastly more electricity than current models.

Schools that participate in this effort will reap significant benefits, including the following:

  • Access to new equipment for the classroom
  • Opportunity to integrate hands-on learning about energy efficiency into the curriculum
  • Opportunity to build a school-community connection
  • Incentives for innovative teaching strategies
Go to the WI K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) web site and click on ENERGY STAR Appliance Upgrade Program to find out more information.
