What I Learned as an Officer:
Statement from Michelle Friedel, State President
"Organization, teamwork, and public speaking are what I have learned from being a state officer. Organization was extremely important when I was the Region V Vice President. Hosting the Regional Conference at my high school could not have been possible without this skill. This year as President I see myself using my organization skills even more. When planning a large event such as Regionals or State, you have to think about the smallest details. Teamwork is something that is necessary for a team to be successful. When the state officer team plans events everyone must compromise to make the event a success. Public speaking is a skill that can be difficult for some. By speaking at conferences and events I have become more comfortable in front of a crowd."
Statement from Joel Dumonsau, former State Reporter
"Being a state officer was easily the most rewarding experience in my high school career. I had the opportunity to work with ten fun people and I learned all along the way. I became deft at writing articles, enhanced my public speaking competence, and, most importantly, I stepped out of my comfort zone."
