Wisconsin Early Childhood Education and Care Stakeholders
Consider No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
The reauthorization of NCLB in 2007, provided an opportunity to revise/modify the law to ensure the implementation works to improve student achievement. Many people believe that early childhood education and care will play and increasing direct role in the reauthorization of NCLB or that NCLB will play an increasing role in other early childhood national efforts.
At the state level, a state collaborative council collected testimony on NCLB including voices from the early childhood education and care community.
This web page represents the thoughts and impressions on NCLB received from broad cross sections of Wisconsin's early childhood education and care community. Input came in the form of responses to a web based survey and other evaluative and ranking exercises conducted in the spring and summer of 2006. This process was a unique way for early childhood to voice their thoughts, dreams, and fears about NCLB and the implications for early childhood education and care.
Who participated in this process
- Participants at the WDEC Jolyn Beeman Memorial Conference, "Einstein Never Used Flash Cards," 2006, feedback was voluntarily collected through their evaluation form.
- Stakeholders in the early childhood education and care world responded to a "we-huddle" survey including school general /special education personnel, Head Start directors, child care agencies/associations, WECCP listserv, Forces-for-Four-Year-Olds listserv, and early childhood special education listserv.
