High School Graduation Standards
Section PI 18.05, Wis. Admin. CodePI 18.05 Submission of High School Graduation Standards Policies. (1) By September 1, 1986, each board operating a high school shall submit to the state superintendent, on forms provided by the department, a report describing the board's high school graduation policies governing diplomas which shall be granted subsequent to September 1, 1988. Such policies shall include: (a) The courses the board has approved as meeting the course requirements outlined in s. PI 18.03 (1) including the course descriptions. (b) The number of clock hours of instruction required to earn one credit in the courses the board has approved as meeting the course requirements outlined in s. PI 18.03 (1). (c) The education programs for pupils with exceptional educational interests, needs, or requirements. (d) The activities approved by the board under s. 118.33 (1)(b), Stats. open campus and work release may not be approved by a board under this section. A pupil's employment during school hours be approved if the employment is part of or related to the pupil's instructional program; or if the employment is approved as an accommodation for a pupil with exceptional educational interests, needs, or requirements under s. PI 18.04. (2) The board shall notify the state superintendent whenever changes are made in its high school graduation policy. (3) The board shall certify to the state superintendent that its high school graduation policy is in compliance with the requirements under s.118.33 (1), Stats., and this chapter; or the board shall request approval of its high school graduation policy under sub. (5) as equivalent to the requirements under s.118.33(1), Stats. (4) The state superintendent may periodically review the boards' high school graduation policies and shall notify any board not in compliance with the requirements in s. 118.33 (1), Stats., and this chapter. The state superintendent shall identify the changes necessary to achieve compliance. (5) The state superintendent shall approve any board's high school graduation policy that is equivalent to the requirements under s. 118.33 (1) Stats. History: Cr.
